About the Artist

Chris Heisinger is an artist specializing in stained glass mosaics.  Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Chris has always found ways to express herself with her artwork.  While attending Northwestern University, she studied the Arts and Crafts movement, Native American and Chinese art history that brings a unique flavor to her art pieces.

Over the years, Chris has worked in acrylic, ceramic, photography, stained glass and mosaic tile. Since the late 1980’s she has developed her own artistic style through stained glass and began creating stained glass mosaics in 2002.

Artist Statement

I have traveled to various wild forests and woods and I am amazed by the beauty and high energy of all of those magnificent places.  It is these places in which I stop and become one with the environment.  The colors, sounds and smells are intense and profound.  It is these experiences that I try to capture in time within my art.

By being aware of the fragility of nature and our ecosystem,  I try to use as much recycled materials as possible with all my artwork.  Most of my window pieces are actually old recycled window frames and a significant amount of the stained glass used in the pieces are either scraps from other projects or glass that would have otherwise been thrown out.
